As exciting as this whole college thing is, the goodbyes are terrible. I have fallen out of friendships before, but I have never had to say goodbye to my best friend. Erin leaves for school in one hour. I saw her for the last time on Friday. We tried to avoid the subject of school by eating massive amounts of food, laughing continuously, and rewatching Charmed. Yes, I grew up watching Charmed, Angel, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But after a day of fun, we had to face the fact that we are going to be spending the next few months apart. We drove around for three hours singing in the car. Neither of us will have cars at school, and I don't car sing with anyone else, so we had to get it out of our systems. Even though we will see each other over breaks, the separation will be awful. This girl is my best friend. She is the most amazing person I have ever met. I can be completely myself around her. Sometimes I think that she is the only one that understands me. I know she will have the best time at school, and hopefully we will get a few visits in over the school year because New York and Boston are not extremely far apart. Good luck. I love you Erin.
Until next time, Mandy
cute pictures! it's so great to have friends like that
ReplyDeleteAwwww! So sweet.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely post, you both looks awesome in the pics (and both have fab style!) it can be hard but with a little effort on both sides you guys will be fine- one of my besties lived in Mexico for over a year and when she came back it's like she never left, we just made sure to skype and email regularly!xx
ReplyDeleteAW! these photos are adorable - and the sentiment. my best friend left for college (this was when picture phones were the next big thing, before smart phones) and we sent each other pictures of ourselves moving in. i still have the photo she first sent me! and we're still close, even with me living now 8 hours out of town. with the internet - i'm sure you guys will stay close

aww that is so sweet! some friendships are just truly special. i've been living with my best friend now for a couple years. i can't imagine not being around her 24/7! i wish you both luck but i'm sure your relationship will only grow bigger over the distance!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a sweet post that resonates so deep with me. All my best friends are the people I bonded with in the military. Now that I'm out (actually most of us are) I don't really get to see them as much because we're all scattered in random states. Nothing broke my heart as much as saying goodbye to them all as I moved from the first set of friends at my first base, and then again when I got out of the military and said goodbye to the second batch of them. I just couldn't stop crying for months each time. Best friends are the best. But that's what makes your heart feel sort of okay, knowing that no matter how far y'all are you'll still get to visit and make time to see each other when you can. :)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you both in college! By the way, are you going to NY or Boston?
Oh, and these are seriously the cutest set of pictures ever!
