Am I Allowed To Have A Crush On A Building?

I know that this is not the most thrilling outfit, but I like these pictures because of the building. I saw this building on the corner while I was shopping and just had to get a few shots of it. I have always loved brick walls, especially this worn multiple colored brick. I wonder what the inside looks like, probably beautiful. For years my wish has been to live in an apartment with brick walls. I remember cutting out a picture of the most beautiful Greenwich Village loft when I was in grade school. To this day I cannot get that picture out of my mind.

Bicycle on a Cloud

Not my that great of a store, but look how cute the business card was.
A fun little photo with my brother.

Here are two more vintage shops that I found this weekend. I'm pretty sure that I wasn't supposed to take photos, but I tried to snap a few anyway. My soon to be stepfather found these stores in the shadier neighborhoods of the city. It really wasn't all that bad, but I never would have found them by myself. We went to Knee Deep first, and I guess appearances can be really deceiving because I did not think that I would find much from the outside look of the place. I was mistaken. This store easily became a favorite of mine. Maybe it had something to do with the one dollar sale (I found three dresses and a jacket) or the most perfectly fitting dress that was squished in the racks. I am always nervous when trying on vintage clothing because I don't want to fall in love with something then have it not fit me. Trust me, it has happened plenty of times since curves and big ribs were not the body type that many of the clothes were made for. But to my surprise, the dress felt like it was specially made for me. I couldn't resist.

I know that I keep writing about all of the great vintage deals that I have been finding lately, and I really want to show them to you. Don't worry, they will all make it to the blog eventually, but I just don't have a great way to display them. I love when bloggers lay out their clothing on cool wood floors and then take pictures of them, but unfortunately I only have boring carpet. And all of the photos that I have taken of them hanging in my closet just don't produce the wow factor since they look odd on the hanger. The only other way I can get pictures of them is if I am wearing them, but going to a private school and all only allows me to wear real clothes on the weekends. I will definitely wear some of my finds this weekend and get the pictures up on the blog.

Post 27

I know you can't tell by this picture, but the rope things are actually multicolored zippers bound together. I love finding new decorative ideas.
I found Post 27 to be a very interesting store. I love the brick walls and industrial feel, but most of the merchandise was way out of my price range. The clothing was designer vintage made into new pieces. It was a great place to look around, especially since the cutest dog greeted you at the door. I mean look at that adorable face. I might just have to go back to visit him.

Curly Wurly

Thank you Lush for creating a shampoo that can tame my frizzy curls. Yesterday I bought curly wurly shampoo. It's made with vanilla and coconuts which apparently bring out your natural curls. I am really glad that I bought this shampoo because I usually don't wear my hair natural since it is so frizzy. Every lush product that I have tried has been wonderful. I highly recommend shopping there.

Best Deal Ever

Early morning Starbucks before the estate sale.
I usually know where I'm going when I'm driving, but I thought I would plug the address of the estate sale in the garmin. Oh boy was that a bad idea. It turns out that the house was only about 10 minutes from where I live, but the gps took me for a half hour drive that ended up on the highway. It's safe to say that I will no longer be trusting directions from the garmin. These crazy directions left me somewhat irritated and pessimistic about the estate sale... but my mood instantly changed when I went inside.
Two rooms full of vintage clothes, what could be better? I immediately started rummaging through the racks and my pile kept growing larger and larger. At first, I just wanted to pull everything that I found interesting so nobody else could take it. I told myself that there was no way that I could buy all of these things. The woman working stored my clothes so I could keep on looking, which was fine because I knew that I was going to minimize my pile later. The sign said that all vintage clothes were $20, but then they were marked down to $10. Even though $10 is a great price, my pile of 11 items would have cost me $110 and I just did not have that much money with me. When I went downstairs to pay, they counted all of my items and said they would make me a deal. $2 a piece! Can you believe that??? I was in shock. Actually, I still am. Dresses, shirts, coats, pants, headbands, and a ring (14 vintage items) all for $28. My grandma took them home to clean, but I can't wait to actually see what I bought since I just grabbed whatever I could find. I know that some of the dresses need hemming, but that's okay because my sewing lessons begin this month. I will be sure to put up pictures when I get my clothes back.
After the sale, we went out to breakfast at Honey Jam cafe. Isn't my yogurt pretty? I couldn't resist taking a picture. Shortly after breakfast, it was off to the movies. I have been talking about The Artist since it first came out, but I finally saw it yesterday and loved it. I loved Jean Dujardin's expressive eyebrows and amazing dance moves (well actually I just love him). I loved Berenice Bejo's effortless beauty. And most of all, I loved the 1920s style. That has always been one of my favorite fashion eras. I was drooling over the clothing the whole movie. If only we could all dress like that today. I would much rather look at a man in tails and a bow tie than look at his boxers because his pants are three sizes too big. I never understood how that became a look. Since today's style is not changing, I will just have to wish that I lived in old movies. Have any of you seen Le Demoiselles de Rochefort? It's the next movie on my list to see. A 1960s french musical with impeccable style sounds perfect to me.

Perfect Day for Rain Boots

shirt/coat: anthropologie. skirt/scarf: urban outfitters. tights: target. boots: hunter
I just got my Hunter boots! I've been wanting them for awhile because I'm seriously lacking in the rain gear department. Although I love the colorful pairs of boots, I opted to go for the black. They go with anything and look fun with colorful tights. I decided to wear them this morning, and I'm glad I did because it ended up being a very rainy day. Besides the rain, I had an amazing day. I'm working on a post about it for tomorrow. Three words: amazing estate sale. Get excited. I'm off to clean out my closet to make some room for my great finds. How was your day?

Latte and Sprinkles

After three tests at school today, I was in serious need of a pick me up. This butterscotch latte and sprinkle cookie really did the trick. I love the foam art. I added the picture of my diana because I wanted a third picture and it added a pop of color.
I have a busy weekend ahead of me. Estate sales, movies, homework, and vintage shopping... hopefully I can add sleep into the mix. But before any sleep tonight, I need to start putting up my march sponsors. That's what I will be doing for the next few hours.
Until next time, Mandy
