Look, I Match The Chair

How amazing is all of this furniture? This was my quick stop at Jayson Home and Garden. I really wanted to buy everything I saw, but then I remembered that I don't have my own house or an unlimited credit card. As sad as this made me, I still enjoyed dreaming about what I could do with all of the interesting pieces. My two favorite things were the leather couch and the orange chair. I am really obsessed with orange lately and I guess other people are too because I have been seeing it everywhere. I must remember to buy more orange.

Bleeding Heart Bakery

I love this place! A few months ago, I heard about this bakery some food show and I knew I wanted to try it. While I was vintage shopping, I looked across the street and what did I see? Bleeding Heart Bakery! We went in to grab a little snack to go. I chose the vanilla sprinkle cake ball and it was heavenly. This punk rock bakery is covered in cool wall art and decorations. It was so interesting that we decided to go back for breakfast. All of the food sounded so exciting, especially the donut sandwich. Wil and my aunt were brave enough to order this sweet and savory dish. I did take a little bite and to my surprise, I really liked it! I definitely want to go back, but I did buy ten french toast cake balls to take home. I am eating one right at this moment. So delicious.

Windy City Weekend

Dress: Modcloth. Shirt: Vintage. Tights: Target
How cold do I look? I took these photos outside of this amazing furniture shop, but it was so windy I'm surprised that I got any usable pictures. After a day of shopping, I went out for dinner at Hub 51 with my boyfriend, aunt, and uncle. It was great fun. I'm so sad that I'm back home now, but I'm looking forward to exciting weekends ahead.

Burnt Orange and Brick Walls

Jacket: Anthropologie. Dress: Modcloth. Shirt: Vintage. Shoes/tights: Target
I had an extremely successful vintage shopping day! I will be posting some pictures of my finds in the coming days. I visited three new vintage shops in Chicago and found something to buy at every one. I battled the freezing weather in this outfit. Even though the jacket is not very heavy, it stood up well to the blistering winds, if only my hair would've done the same. Round two of shopping begins in approximately sixteen hours. Wish me luck.

Look What I Bought

After school, I went across the street to target to see if they had these shoes that I really like. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me, but I did take some with my phone.
My mom gave me a brown pair of these shoes for christmas and I wear them all of the time. They were only nine dollars so I decided to paint the sides gold. I really like the way they turned out, so I wanted to buy another pair. Target only had a black pair in my size but I bought them because they were only five dollars. Do you think I should paint these too? If so, what color?

Another pair that I decided to buy were these tan suede booties. I don't have any tan shoes and I do love the chunky heel.

These were really cute flats, but I did not have enough money with me to buy them. I might have to go back because they are a great pattern for spring.

I also found these raincoats. I have always wanted a really bright, fun raincoat, but I could never find one. They had green, blue, pink, and yellow. I am thinking of going with the traditional yellow. What do you think?
I am going downtown tomorrow for some thrifting/vintage shopping. I cannot wait. I need a little relaxation time, and what is better than great clothes and food?
Until next time, Mandy

The Versatile Blogger Award

I have just been given my first award and I am thrilled. I have only been blogging for about a month now and it has been so wonderful. I have met so many amazing and inspirational bloggers who have kindly welcomed me into the community. Thank you to all of my lovely readers, especially Emma who gave me this award. I guess now I am supposed to tell you seven interesting facts about myself and give this award to ten blogs that I love. Here it goes.

Here are seven interesting facts about me:
One. My mom named me after her favorite doll as a kid.
Two. I am seven different ethnicities. Italian, Irish, English, German, Bohemian, Austrian, and Czechoslovakian.
Three. Four years ago, I traveled to Vienna to play volleyball in the World Games.
Four. Surprisingly one of my new favorite shows is Hawaii Five-0.
Five. The only meat I eat is chicken because I once saw a cow that had my name, I watched swimming baby pigs at my local county fair, and I am scared of sea creatures.
Six. My hair really frustrates me most of the time because it usually looks like a frizzy poodle, but I was voted best hair in my senior class.
Seven. I rarely ever paint my nails because I mess them up every single time. I don't even know how this happens.

Here are the ten women behind some of my favorite blogs:
One. Joannie from An Urban Explorer
Two. Ellie from Beat Up Brogues
Three. Helen from Electric Sunrise
Four. Eliza from Eliza
Five. Heather from Fashionista New York Girl
Six. Megan from Gingerly
Seven. Chelsea from Organized Mess
Eight. Kait from Miss Kait Online
Nine. Annika from The Pineneedle Collective
Ten. Stephanie from Honeynsilk

Please check out these great blogs.

My Day At School

I thought I would bring my camera along to school today. Here are a few pictures from the day. Alright, so this is not exactly an outfit post, but I do wear this five days a week. I know that my uniform is not the cutest, but I thought I would share it with you anyways. This week, my school banned scarves. Shh, I'm being a rebel. Usually, I can deal with the ridiculous rules at my school, but honestly, scarves? I wouldn't be as upset if the school actually supplied us with heat, but now I spend my days freezing. Other than that, I took some pictures of the upright bass. I think this instrument is so beautiful. Our school just bought it because Wil has been begging them for awhile. If only I could learn to play, how amazing would that be? I hope you all had a lovely day.

A Day Out With Friends

My lovely friend, Erin
I'm pretty sure this was a dress for ballet or something, but I bought it anyway. I think it will be a good layering piece.

On Sunday, Erin, Wil, and I had a lovely day out. We started with lunch at Naf Naf Grill, a middle eastern restaurant. My first experience with this type of food. I ordered a falafel because I really like saying the word. I've tried a little before at Whole Foods, but not a whole meal of it. It was actually quite good, so I think we will be returning sometime soon. After that we hit a thrift store called Savers. Usually, I just stop by a local Goodwill, but Savers was surprisingly decent. Imagine an Office Depot building, but instead of office supplies, it was filled with racks and racks of clothing and other thriftable items. Scouring for unmarked clothing in my size was a little difficult. I have large hips and ribs, so some items fit very strangely, while others wouldn't even zip. But, I did buy that black dress. It's nothing all that special, but it will be easy to pair with cute tights and a sweater. I plan on visiting the other Savers locations to see what else I can find. From Savers, we decided to take some photos outside. Do we look freezing? I couldn't feel my toes for about an hour after, but it was well worth it because we rarely ever get pictures with each other. So that was my day.

Red Horses

Dress: Forever 21. Tights/Shoes: Target.
Finally, an outfit post! Yesterday, I was able to get out of the house and do a little thrifting. I wore my new dress from Forever 21. I didn't have any casual red dresses, so I decided to buy it. I love the small peter pan collar and the horse design. Too bad that it was freezing and slightly raining, so I had to cover it up with a coat. I'll share some photos from my thrifting adventure tomorrow.

Colorful Zig Zags

This is one of my favorite vintage finds. I saw this blanket folded up in a pile of fabrics at Cracker Jax. The bright colors immediately grabbed my attention. It has been at the dry cleaners for the past couple of days, but now it's lying on my bed. It gives a whole new feel to my room. I really love it. What are your opinions?

Thursday Afternoon at Anthropologie

These letters are made out of yarn. Such a great idea.
I really want to do this at my dorm. I have always loved the exposed light bulb look.
My new jacket! I always seem to find amazing sale items at this anthropologie. I saw it hanging in the corner and I couldn't resist. It is my new favorite color, it is really unique, and it was half off. Whats better than that?

After school on Thursday, I was really in need of an anthropologie trip. Whenever I go into this shop, I automatically get inspired. I'm pretty sure that I say I want to live there every single time. The wood floors and brilliant displays always give me new ideas. Too bad I decorated my room when I was twelve; pink and green stripes do not produce a very rustic feel. Even though most of the clothing is expensive and all I can do is picture myself wearing the items, the sale room is usually packed. I always head straight to the sales right when I go in and I always seem to find something, like my new coat that I absolutely love.
