Boston Beginnings

My first post from Boston! How exciting. I moved into my dorm on Friday. After hours of rearranging and organizing my extremely hot room, it finally ended up feeling quite homey. For the past couple of months, I have been stocking up on vintage pictures and craft items to fill my room with. I am pleased with the turn out because the room is much bigger than I expected. Thanks to these lovely ladies pictured above, my first week at Northeastern has been more than amazing. I had my first day of classes today and I start work tomorrow. Everything seems to be falling into place, and I could not be any happier.

Wall of Doors

dress: forever 21. shoes: nordstrom. scarf: vintage.
With only a week left at home, I thought that another trip to the pie shop was necessary. Since the weather has been amazing the past few days, I decided to sit in the backyard of the shop. The wall of doors and pops of red made it the perfect place to take some photos.

Vintage Garage

I always love checking out vintage markets in the city, so when I heard that the vintage garage was open on Sunday, I made a last minute decision to attend. Even though I was there strictly to "window" shop, there were tons of neat things that I wish I could have brought home with me. I was tempted to buy another coat, but I know that my mother would have killed me. I don't even know how I am going to fit my wardrobe in my dorm, so I am not allowed to buy any more clothes at the moment. Speaking of clothes, I should really start packing up my closet. I leave for Boston in a week!

Fence Of Frames

dress: bazar. shoes: jc penny. bag: vintage.
While my mom is working in Atalanta for the next couple of weeks, I am staying with my aunt in the city. On Sunday, we spent the afternoon at the vintage bazaar, which is where I found this fantastic fence of white frames. I love going to artsy events where everyone's creativity can be seen in different ways. Walking through the tents of vendors, I couldn't help but notice how many interesting people there were. I found inspiration in their clothing, hairstyles, tattoos, and personalities, which is why I love life in the city. Suburban life isn't all that horrible, but it is all the same, well at least where I live. I appreciate the diversity, culture, and history of cities, so I cannot wait until I move to Boston in a month.

Airstream Love

Look, an airstream! Just another great thing about the property. It's kind of banged up and needs to be gutted, but then the possibilities are endless. I know it's not technically mine, but you can't show me something this amazing and not expect my mind to start reeling. If it were up to me (and it's not), the airstream would look a little something like...
OR
What do you think? I'm really loving the idea of an airstream full of vintage clothes. Also, I would definitely paint the outside in some fun retro colors. Too many ideas and it's not even mine. Maybe, just maybe, I will inherit it someday. But until then, I will just have to stare at these beautiful pictures.

Trails End

Here it is, Trails End, our new home. I know that it needs a lot of work, but that's because it has been abandoned for awhile. But in its prime, it was the estate of the owner of Teco pottery, which is why the inside looks so artsy. This was the first time that I visited, and I was surprised by what I saw. It really sparked my creativity. After wandering through a minimal part of the 13 acres of forest, I started to picture how neat it would be to have a party out there. Even though it slightly reminds me of the Blair Witch Project, I think that with enough work it could be something amazing. I'm picturing the old barn with twinkling lights, multiple colored vintage chairs and couches, and pretty things hanging from the ceiling. The perfect place for relaxing or maybe even a lovely blogger meetup? Okay maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself, the place is still in shambles, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Do You Have Any Decorating Ideas For Me?

I've always seen the store Lenny & Me online, but I never actually knew where it was. I have been in this store in Bucktown, but there was only the building name on the outside. When I looked at the back wall, I saw the large postcard that said Lenny & Me. I was so surprised! This store is just packed with amazing vintage furniture and clothing. I think I need to go back to look at the furniture because I am going to be in need of it very soon. My mother is getting married and we are moving into her fiance's house. I'm not going to be living there full time since I am going off to college in the fall, but I do get to redecorate it. I'm looking forward to putting my creativity to the test, but it will be a challenge. If you have any bedroom, bathroom, or closet decorating ideas please let me know. I would love if you could email me (mandylancia@gmail.com) photos of your ideas. I am going to try to post some photos of the room, but it is under construction.Thank you for your help!
